Christine M. Slaughter

Christine Marie Slaughter first joined the Los Angeles Urban League Young Professionals (LAULYP) in 2016 and currently serves as its chair of Civic Engagement and Political Awareness. She is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of California, Los Angeles where she earned a Master of Arts in political science and currently studies Race and Ethnic Politics and Political Methodology. Ms. Slaughter is also a recipient of the Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship, the Eugene V. Cota Robles Fellowship at UCLA, and the American Political Science Association Minority Fellowship. A magna cum laude graduate of Spelman College and a native of Virginia, she has dedicated much of her professional and personal life to empowering young Black women and girls through service, mentoring, and enlightenment. Ms. Slaughter aspires to become a professor of political science at a research-intensive university while remaining an active member of her community.
